How to Wash Lace, Mesh and Embroidered Lingerie

Ivory Goddess white lace garter set photographed in a dark editorial studio for a modern bridal lingerie story.

Good lingerie deserves another evening. The lace, the embroidery, the straps you adjusted just so. Looking after those details starts with the instructions for the actual piece, rather than one washing rule for the entire drawer.

For Misty Lorette lingerie listed for hand washing, use cold water and a mild detergent, handle it gently and follow that design's drying instructions. A laundry bag does not turn a hand-wash-only piece into a machine-washable one. Scarlet Temptress is the important exception in this edit: its sequin design specifies spot cleaning only.

Start with the piece, not just the fabric name

Mesh can carry embroidery. Lace can sit beside feather trim. A bodysuit can have a belt and gloves that need attention of their own. The word “delicate” is a useful reminder, but it is not a complete care instruction.

Read the garment's care label and the current product instructions before cleaning. If they differ, or you are unsure about a trim or detachable detail, use our Contact Us form before washing. The notes below summarise the current product listings checked on 16 October 2026; they do not replace the label attached to your piece.

The Misty Lorette care edit

Find the design first, then choose its washing and drying method. These are care differences, not a ranking of quality or durability.

Current washing and drying instructions by design
Your piece Wash Dry
Ivory Goddess Hand wash cold Air dry
Blush Goddess and Blossom Siren Gentle hand wash cold Air dry
Golden Goddess Hand wash cold Air dry
Sapphire Siren and Crimson Siren Hand wash cold Lay flat to dry
Ruby Temptress and Midnight Temptress Hand wash cold Lay flat to dry
Jaguar Temptress Hand wash cold Hang dry
Scarlet Temptress Spot clean only Hang dry

The hand-wash designs above also specify no bleach, ironing or tumble drying. Keep hosiery separate from hooks and hardware: our stockings collection has its own product instructions.

How to hand wash a piece that permits it

  1. Prepare a clean basin. Use cold water and a mild detergent suitable for delicate garments. Follow the detergent's dose rather than adding extra for reassurance.
  2. Separate the pieces. Keep colours and vulnerable trims apart. Fasten hooks so they cannot catch nearby lace. Only remove a belt or accessory if the design is intended to detach.
  3. Move the fabric gently. Support the garment in the water. Avoid scrubbing embroidered motifs, twisting straps or pulling on a cup to lift a water-heavy set.
  4. Rinse with care. Follow the detergent's rinsing instructions and support the piece as you lift it. Do not wring it out.
  5. Follow the drying instruction. Gently press away excess water with a clean towel, keeping the shape supported, then lay flat, air dry or hang as the specific piece directs.

That routine applies only to pieces that allow hand washing. Do not use it to immerse a spot-clean-only design. If a mark needs more than the permitted method can offer, ask for guidance rather than escalating to hotter water, bleach or stronger cleaning products.

Give lace, embroidery and hardware their own space

Before cleaning, check for a caught hook, loose trim or fastening that needs attention. Jewellery and rough nails can catch fine fabric while you handle it, just as they can while dressing.

Do not bundle a delicate mesh piece around a belt or let a metal clip drag across embroidery. Once everything is completely dry, place the coordinated pieces together with hooks and hardware kept away from the fabric. A clean pouch or a divided drawer makes the next evening easier to find.

Four questions before the next wash

Can I put hand-wash lingerie in a delicates bag?

A bag can help contain a garment, but it does not change its care instructions. For the hand-wash designs listed above, keep to cold hand washing. A machine's delicate or hand-wash programme is still a machine cycle.

Does sheer mesh need the same care as embroidered mesh?

Not automatically. The construction, trim and attached pieces matter alongside the base fabric. Check the whole design. Our lace and sheer mesh comparison explains how those textures differ before you choose your next look.

Can I treat satin lingerie as silk?

Do not infer the fibre from a satin finish. Read the product's material and care information. Sapphire Siren's current instructions specify cold hand washing with a mild detergent and drying flat.

Can I wash every piece of a set together?

Check each component first. A set may combine fabric, hardware and separate accessories, and the set name is not permission to clean everything in the same way. For anything unclear, ask about that exact design before washing.

Choose the look you want to wear again

Care is part of choosing. If you love white floral lace, compare Ivory Goddess; for pastel embroidery on sheer mesh, explore Blush Goddess. Both are coordinated sets. Check the fit and listed inclusions before deciding, then keep the care instructions with the pieces.
